Terry Shames grew up in Texas and has an abiding affection for the people she grew up with and the town in which her grandparents lived. That history forms the background for her Samuel Craddock mystery series; the third—and latest—volume is Dead Broke in Jarrett Creek. She’s also the co-editor of Fire in the Hills, a book of stories, poems, and photographs about the 1991 Oakland Hills Fire. She lives in Berkeley with her husband, two rowdy terriers, and a mature cat.
