Pell, Eve

Eve Pell was raised as an American princess in enclaves of privilege and wealth. As she wrote in her book, We Used to Own the Bronx, she defied her family, married a Catholic from Chicago, moved to San Francisco where she became a staff reporter at the Center for Investigative Reporting, and enthusiastically championed social justice causes. Along the way, she taught English and Journalism with a stint as a private investigator; she is a nationally ranked senior runner. Part memoir and part reporting, Love Again: The Wisdom of Unexpected Romance chronicles both her own discovery of new love in old age and that of several other couples ranging in age from 60 to 96. These widows, widowers, divorcees, and never-marrieds, open up about old love versus young, the surprising thrill of sex, and the looming shadow of mortality.
