Nancy Boas is a curator and the author of David Park: A Painter’s Life and The Society of Six: California Colorists. In her biography of David Park she deepens our admiration for Park’s figurative paintings, affirming his stature as a major figure in American art.
Ms. Boas was one of our honored authors in 2013, and we are fortunate to have her back this year for a special author-led event. With the Park biography as her Baedeker, Ms. Boas is the perfect guide for this one-of-a-kind tour of the Villa Taverna, an historical site in San Francisco once frequented by artists like Ralph Stackpole, Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera and David Park. The storied building will come to life on this insider’s tour for four.
Your outing will begin with lunch in the secluded ambiance of Villa Taverna, a private dining club founded in 1960. You’ll find your lunch spot down a narrow alley in the shadow of the Transamerica Pyramid, tucked behind unassuming doors, but don’t be fooled by this low-key entrance. Inside you’ll find movers and shakers from the arts, politics and society.
Dress code may apply – definitely retro cool!
Date to be arranged with Ms Boas.
Must be used in 2014.
